CARD is short for Choose a Real Deal CARD promises you future progression after year 11 with a place in training, Further Education (college/sixth form) or Higher Education (university) as and when appropriate. CARD is a commitment by all learning providers in the City, through the Wolverhampton 14-19 Learning Charter (ref1), to ensure you receive a well-managed and quality learning experience and access to all appropriate learning opportunities. CARD involves a ‘sign-up' process that includes an agreement that you and your parent/carer complete early in year 10 and return to school. Although the CARD promise is made in year 10, learners can start preparing for it from year 7 by getting involved in school and City based activities. CARD also gives you the chance to taste courses and learn about different career and progression (ref5) pathways. If you're 13-19, and wanting advice on getting to where you want to be in life, we're here to help. We also provide support up to the age of 25 if you have a learning difficulty or a disability (or both). We can give you information, advice and practical help with all sorts of things that might be affecting you at school, college, work or in your personal or family life. Another useful site is <a href="http://www.fasttomato.com/index.aspx" target="_blank">Fasttomato.com</a> that helps match your interests, skills and qualifications to possible career pathways and course types. <h3>You, Area-prospectus and what next...?</h3> There may be many reasons why you have come to this site? If it is anything to do with planning and researching your future it is a useful idea to record what you have learned from your visit. You can do this in two ways.   1. The first way is to make notes in the 'notepad' on this site. You can attach these notes to an <a href="../../user_browses/141">opportunity</a> you have identified or just leave them as general     notes.   2. The second way is to record your thoughts and ideas in your my-iPlan.com site. Go to the ‘My Perspectives' part of the site and enter your thoughts there. If you want help to put your ideas into an action plan, you could make an appointment to see your personal adviser who will help you write up and agree a plan with you and put it directly onto <a href="https://www.my-iplan.com/default.aspx" target="_blank">my-iPlan.com</a>. My-iplan.com is a dynamic web-based individual learning plan.  You can access and input key information about yourself, your learning and progress 24/7 365 days a year. You can record your achievements and plans for the future and share these with all the people YOU think need to know.  You can use my-iPlan.com to record your <a href="../../uploaded_images/0000/0199/cardhandbook.pdf" target="_blank">CARD Promise</a>, create your own CV (curriculum vitae), upload pictures and videos and other evidence of your learning and achievement in a safe and secure environment.  To get into your my-iPlan.com account you will need to either have an existing username and password or get a personalised registration code from your learning base (school, college or training provider).  The <a href="../../uploaded_images/0000/0199/createusername.pdf" target="_blank">Registering and Creating a Username and Password</a> guide shows you how to create username and password.  If you can get into your my-iPlan account already and want to learn more about using it, use the <a href="../../uploaded_images/0000/0199/initialexercises.pdf" target="_blank">Initial Training Exercise for Learners</a> booklet. Information, help and advice in the Work section includes: Work resources, this will help you when making decisions about work; it includes a careers database called jobs4u that gives you ideas of the type of qualifications, skills and working hours associated with each job. Before getting a job, this section is for you if you want to know where to look for work and what to do to give yourself the best chance of getting a job. You will find help on writing Curriculum Vitae (CV) and covering letters as well as preparing for an Interview. So your working, this section is about your rights in the workplace and health issues when working. If you are interested in working and learning at the same time, the Workschemes section provides information on a variety of ways to do this, including; Apprenticeships, Time off for Study and Entry to Employment programmes.
