The Salon at King Street is a training salon and is part of City of Wolverhampton College. The purpose built salon, which was officially opened in April 2006 by Errol Douglas, whose clients include Naomi Campbell and Cat Deeley, accommodates over 200 Apprentices each week. With an excellent range of state of the art equipment and 25 stations, it is the largest Apprenticeship training salon in the country. Apprentices are employed by local salons, where they work 4-5 days a week. They attend the Salon at King Street one day each week for practical training and to learn the underpinning theory of their qualification. Once they complete their Level 2 qualification, Apprentices have the opportunity to progress further onto an Advanced Apprenticeship, to complete a Level 3 qualification involving more detailed technical work. The Hairdressing Apprenticeship programme is an exciting journey for all young people who have a passion for working in the industry. Apprentices have an opportunity to visit high profile demonstrations, often abroad and enter prestigious hairdressing competitions.
