Description
Your learning in this part of the Diploma is under three headings. The engineered world. You will investigate the role of engineers and how they contribute to society. You will learn about engineering achievements from the past. You will investigate the different engineering sectors, what they produce and the services they offer us. You will investigate the career pathways available in engineering. Discovering engineering technology. You will learn how important engineering design is. You will produce and present a design solution to a brief you are given. You will investigate how computers are used in engineering and how they have helped to move engineering forward. You will produce engineering solutions from drawings to using processes. You will learn about the importance of applied mathematics. You will learn about electronic and electrical systems. You will use information supplied by the manufacturer to carry out maintenance procedures and find out what is wrong with a piece of faulty equipment. Engineering the future. You will be asked to use your imagination in order to predict how you think engineering could be developed and used in the future. You will investigate how business benefits from new technology.
